Fishing at Vumbura Plains Camp, Okavango

"On safari in September 2005, Steve Bury and Neal Salomon, fly fishermen of note, were fishing for Tiger fish at Vumbura Plains Camp in Botswana's Okavango Delta. Normally, though the camp may not offer fishing for these particular species, after much pressure to send Bury and Salomon out there (or they would not be able to face their fellow fly fishermen friends back home), the camp capitulated. A day trip was planned out to the junction of two channels a couple of hours from the boat station. A Tiger estimated at about 7 kg was caught, but on its first breach, whilst out of the water, managed to spit out the fly, while Neal's catch took the line and disappeared. A bream was also caught. "

This September, the Tigers will be biting again - so head to our Vumbura Plains Camp homepage to plan out your safari.
