North Island Okavango
North Island Okavango camp is surrounded by seasonal floodplains, woodland and open savannah. Upstream of the Okavango Delta, North Island is the first to get the annual floodwaters opening up the season to water-based safari activities. North Island camp sits before a hippo-filled lagoon, surrounded by enormous Ebony trees. A lounge and dining area to enjoy delicious dinners, connected by a wooden deck that extends onwards for stargazing around a crackling firepit at night. There is a library at camp and an outdoor gym surrounded by the wild. Only 4 rooms at camp.
Only 4 tents at North Island Okavango Camp raised on wooden decks under the shady boughs of wild ebony trees with stunning views of the hippo lagoon. The tents are 460 sq ft each, including a deck with outside shower and pool. Room facilities include en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers, mini-bar, ceiling-fan, private veranda and pool. Each bed also comes with an ‘over-the-bed’ cooling system for sleeping comfort. The camp is shaded by a congregation of enormous 30-50 foot trees. To have so many big trees so tightly packed along the water’s edge is a very rare occurrence in the Delta where elephant activity usually impacts significantly on their growth.
North Island Okavango is open year round. April to October in the Delta are the dry, winter months however, there is water around the camp almost all year round.

The 'Okavango Spirit' houseboat is moored on the serene waters of the Okavango River and operates in the panhandle area of the Okavango Delta. This area is recognized as being amongst the quietest and most peaceful in the Delta, due to its remoteness.

In the summer, the Okavango Delta is brimming with migratory birds. Tick off some of the special Okavango species from your bird-list – the Slaty egret, Pel’s fishing owl and the African skimmer to name a few.
